SPI Medical Imaging: NHS Tender Wins Put Annalise.ai in the Spotlight

Publication Date: 21/06/2024

In early June, Annalise.ai announced that it has been selected as the preferred provider by six imaging networks throughout England. The tenders were won through NHS England’s new AI Diagnostic Fund (AIDF), which provides £21 million to 12 imaging networks, covering 64 NHS Trusts across England, to speed up the roll out of AI diagnostic tools.

Annalise.ai’s AI-powered decision-support system, which identifies up to 124 findings on chest X-rays, will be made available to clinicians performing 2.8 million chest X-rays each year – more than one third of all chest X-rays performed in England.

These tender wins have the potential to drive significant growth and revenue for Annalise.ai, acting as a vanguard for large-scale deployment of AI at national scale, a feat the company hopes it can repeat in other markets. However, this also comes with the considerable responsibility that, if unsuccessfully deployed with little evidence for the benefit of use of the AI over standard practise, could negatively impact the medical imaging AI market in the UK, and beyond, long-term.
