SPI Medical Imaging: GE HealthCare’s Strategic Reshuffle

Publication Date: 03/07/2024

In early June, GE HealthCare announced a shakeup in its leadership team and the structure of its business segments. Roland Rott, former leader of the company’s Ultrasound segment, will become president and CEO of Imaging. Rott is the successor to Jan Makela, who announced his resignation to pursue a leadership opportunity with hearing aid manufacturer WSAudiology in April. Phil Rackliffe will become president and CEO of Ultrasound and IGT, and these two segments will be combined into a single business in the third quarter of 2024.

Is GE HealthCare simply moving its pieces to defend the status quo, or does the announcement suggest that there are aggressive plays ahead for the company?
